Greenwich Avenue is the central axis of the business district in Greenwich. The one way street runs from north to south and originates in the north at Putnam Avenue and terminates at Railroad Avenue and the Greenwich Metro North train station. It is a hub for retail, boutique shopping, restaurants, services, governments services and more. Parking is available along the both sides of the street, along the side streets and in municipal lots on either side. Police officers are on duty at intersections of Greenwich Avenue to direct the smooth flow of traffic and and ensure pedestrian safety. Greenwich businesses are served by convenient access via cars, train, buses and sidewalks for walking from nearby residences and office complexes located on and around Steamboat Road, which extends Greenwich Avenue south of the railroad tracks.

Some top brand names, local boutiques and emerging retailers have storefronts along Greenwich Avenue including LuLu Lemon, Zara, Club Monaco, Hermes, Tiffany, Saks, Richard’s, Betteridge Jewelers, rag and bone, Brooks Brothers, rag & bone, Smart Kids Toys, Hobbs, Splurge, Apple and many more. Don’t miss the historic Greenwich post office that was transformed into a superior showcase for Restoration Hardware. Greenwich residents own Vineyard Vines with a flagship store on Greenwich Avenue.
Restaurants
Restaurants are well frequented and tend to be mid- to higher end establishments. I enjoy getting together with friends or colleagues for a coffee at Starbucks, or CFCF. For a healthy or more hearty start grab a pastry or breakfast at Pain de Quotidien. Meli-Melo Creperie, The Granola Bar, and Bistro Versailles are my favorites for lunch. My Mix is a healthy alternative off Greenwich Avenue.
Harvest Wine Bar and Restaurant, Mediterraneo Restaurant, and Elm Street Oyster House always seem to be busy for dinner, as is Terra Ristorante. East End serves excellent food with easy access to the train station. Just south is fine dining at L’Escale. Le Penguin is reliably great for French cuisine. For more relaxed fare, have a beer at The Ginger Man. Thai Basil will have your dinner ready to go in no time. This is just a taste of the selection of dining opportunities. Fine dining and family fare is found in other areas as well. For example, try Centro, a family favorite in Glenville or Boxcar Cantina on Old Field Point Road.

Tailoring, dry cleaning, locksmith, hair salons, spas, exercise club, banks, pharmacies, mobile phone service as well as professional services such as attorneys , architects and accountants are typical services found in the central business district. In addition, town facilities, such as a post office, police station, senior center, board of education and fire department are all conveniently located on “The Avenue” or a side street.
