Senior Living

Are you looking for a place to establish roots or raise a family and grow old? Or are you a member (or future member) of the Sandwich Generation caring for both young and old? Greenwich is blessed with excellent schools and many resources for seniors. This week I focus on seniors.

The Greenwich Senior Center is located on Greenwich Ave. Available to residents over 55, the Commission on Aging offers its 400 members classes (technology, tax, language, health etc), activities, day trips, lunch and more. In Cos Cob, on the Mianus River, is the River House Adult Day Care Center. Targeting members with age related illnesses, River House is staffed with nurses and health aids who provide appropriate care, assistance and activities for those with physical disabilities and Alzheimers or dementia. Door to door transportation and lunch are available.

Nathanial Witherell, located two miles from downtown Greenwich, boasts 24 acres in a residential setting and is available for short term rehab, long term care and memory care. The Mews is a senior living community in the heart of Greenwich. Greenwich Woods Rehabilitation and Health Care Center provides for short term rehab, secured dementia and long term care residents. The Greens at Greenwich is an assisted living facility. Assistance with daily life is provided to residents with memory impairment. Advisory services for the elderly and their families include: At Home in Greenwich; Center for Hope, Family Centers; Patient Advisory Services and more.

There is an abundance of home services, assistance, care, advice and counseling services, including: At Home in Greenwich; Center for Hope, Family Centers; Patient Advisory Services and more.
